Anne
Chambers is a novelist, scriptwriter and best-selling biographer.
She holds an MA in History from the National University of Ireland.
She
started writing she says ‘out of curiosity’, about
the women who was to have the greatest impact on her own life,
Grace O'Malley. She has gone on to write about many infamous women
and men in Irish history.
Anne has written and lectured in Ireland, America, Canada, Jamaica
and Britain on her books. She has contributed articles to many
books and magazines, including Ireland of the Welcomes, Hibernia
and The Irish Arts Review.
Her
books include Granuaile, The Life and Times of Grace
O’Malley, As Wicked a Woman, Eleanor Countess of Desmond
(shortlisted for the 1987 GPA Award) Adorable Diva,
the biography of the prima donna, Margaret Burke Sheridan, and
The Geraldine Conspiracy, an historical novel.
Her
lastest addition to the Wolfhound list is Ranji: Maharajah
of Connemara.
When
not writing, Anne's plays some golf and tennis and loves walking
in the country. With her husband Tony, she has a keen interest
in National Hunt racing. She admits to being a TV sports addict,
especially when watching soccer, rugby and hurling!
