Billy
Keane
Billy
Keane comes from Listowel, County Kerry - an area rich in the
art of story telling and writing. He is the son of the legendary
John B. Keane. His weekly sports column in the Irish Independent
has brought him such an avid following.
His
first book is entitled Last of the Heroes. Keane, who
like his father doubles as a publican in his spare time, brings
to his craft a light, and often hilarious touch to the snapshot
he portrays of rural life as it meets the modern age.
Billy
Keane was a school's champion. He was an assistant to Paudie O’Shea
when Kerry won the All Ireland in 1977. He also played for his
local club Listowel Emmets and later University College Cork.
Billy Keane is a regular contributor to radio and television where
his fast talking Kerry wit comes to the fore.
A
modest rugby player with Bective Rangers, he writes compellingly
about the game. Billy aided Moss Keane in the writing of Rucks,
Mauls & Gaelic Football, Merlin’s sports bestseller
of 2005. Moss and Billy are not related ‘except through
drink’, but share the common Kerry heritage and love of
the holy game of Gaelic football.
Moss
Keane is co-author of Rucks, Mauls and Gaelic Football with
Billy Keane.
