Kemp
Domini
Kemp was born in Nassau, Bahamas, where she lived with her family
until the death of her father in 1983, after which she moved to
Ireland with her mother and sister. The family travelled extensively
throughout the US and Europe, and a passion for food, fine dining
and cooking was developed from a young age.
She
co-wrote New Irish Cooking and started to contribute
recipes and food columns to top Irish magazines such as IMAGE,
IT, SQ, and the Irish Independent newspaper. Domini then became
restaurant critic and dining editor for The Dubliner magazine,
and was hailed “the best food writer in Ireland” by
Michael Ross in The Sunday Times.
A
couple of years after the birth of her daughter Lauren in 1997,
she developed the idea of opening a top New York style deli and
gourmet take away with her sister Peaches. ‘It’s a
bagel’ opened for business in 1999. The success of this
bagel bar has been unprecedented - and a new fresh approach to
fast food has been developed.
Domini
Kemp’s cookery book, Real Food, Real Fast, was
published in 2002 by Merlin Publishing.
