Kennedy
Mary
Kennedy was born in Clondalkin, Dublin in 1956. She was educated
at Colaiste Bride in Clondalkin and University College Dublin
where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She taught English
in Brittany, France before returning to her alma mater to teach
Irish and French. Kennedy's broadcasting career started in RTÉ.
Since then she went on to join the RTÉ News team, becoming
a newscaster. She has also presented the 1995 Eurovision Song
Contest; a Saturday night chat show simply called Kennedy and
was co-presenter with Marty Whelan on the magazine programme Open
House. She is currently Michael Ryan's co-presenter on the RTÉ
local affairs show Nationwide.
In
Paper Tigers Mary honestly answers questions such as
‘How did you end up working as a TV presenter?’ and
‘How did you feel when you were voted Ireland’s most
stylish woman?’ She relates human stories, triggers common
memories and deals with the unusual events of everyday existence.
