Terence
Dooley is author of the best-selling book The Decline of the
Big House in Ireland, published in 2001.
A
riveting social history documenting the ‘big houses’
in Ireland and those who lived in them, this book covers the period
from 1850, when these estates were in their glory years right
through to the eventual decline in the 1950’s. In 2003,
Terence wrote The Greatest of the Fenians for Wolfhound Press.
Terence
is a Professor at the Department of Modern History, NUI Maynooth,
as the NUI Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Humanities. His other published
works include; The Plight of Monaghan Protestants (2000)
and A Sources Guide to the History of Irish Landed Estates
(2000), as well as numerous articles in various journals.
